The Clash in Rude Boy-"Everything this British rock group's fans could hope for."
"Anyone interested in the Clash and the whole late 70's punk rock scene simply must see Rude Boy...great rock music/ theatre from the Clash:-Michael Shore, Soho Weekly News
In 1977 the world of pop music was turned on its ear by the punk rock explosion in England. Led by the Clash, the music re- flected the raw anger seething underneath a generation of frustrated youth.
Now, the most controversial British film of the year, Rude Boy, captures the rise of the Clash in this semi-documentary movie of unemployed, aimless young peo- ple, political violence, and rock and roll on the road. Rude Boy (Jamaican slang for wild youth) focuses on 19-year-old Ray Gange, a disaffected Clash fan who gets a job as a

roadie with the band on one of their first major tours of the UK. To the relentless beat of legendary Clash songs such as "London's Burning" "White Riot" "I Fought the Law, "Police and Thieves" and "Rudi Can't Fail, we are plunged into Ray's world, a milieu of throbbing rock music, indis- criminate drug use, and casual sex. We follow him as he begins to question the group's left-wing political stance, and the ultimate value of rock music in general.
Rude Boy is a disturbing, sometimes shocking, always thought provoking look at the soft white underbelly of British punk music, undeniably one of the most influen- tial trends of our times. Parental discretion is advised as there are several scenes of an explicit nature.
